The Early Childhood Program provides a comprehensive academic education steeped in Catholic school tradition. Our full-time early childhood program recognizes that development in young children is a continuous process. Although children proceed through the same sequence of development, they do not develop at the same rate. Our early childhood program utilizes age-appropriate practices to foster a lifelong love of learning through classroom experiences that allow exploration and discovery, hands-on activities, thematic units of study, and the integration of technology, music, art, world languages, and social-emotional learning.
Our preschool three-year-old program centers on age-appropriate play and discovery. Hands-on and recognition activities engage concepts in letters and sounds, arithmetic, science, family, parish, community, and culture. Religion follows the liturgical calendar, highlighting major feasts and celebrations, along with Gospel stories. These activities continue for four-year-olds, with increasing emphasis on gross and fine motor skills, listening skills, and multi-sensory activities involving letters and numbers. Free and directed play, along with other physical and kinetic activities, continue as the major parts of each school day.
Pre-school students also participate in special classes throughout a given week in Spanish, Art, PE, and Library.
