Our Lady of Guadalupe partners with Catapult Learning (through HISD) to have a licensed Counselor on campus and available to students. The counselor's purpose is to provide essential support and services to the students by way of enriching social and emotional learning, guidance lessons, small group counseling, individual counseling, and an active liaison for teacher-parent partnership.
The Counselor may interact with students in two ways:
Teaching age-appropriate social-emotional learning lessons (SELLs) to each class. If you DO NOT wish for your child to participate in these lessons, please fill out the non-consent form to ensure your student will not be present for the lessons.
An intervention step in the disciplinary process for your child is to encourage positive behaviors and decrease negative behaviors. The counselor will discuss any infraction(s) in question and offer suggestions on appropriate strategies to make better decisions in the future. This will not beindividual weekly counseling sessions, but rather a response to a situation that may have developed in the classroom or with a friend (for example: after a demerit has been given).
If you DO NOT wish for your child to participate in these behavior interventions, please fill out the non-consent form and return it to me via email.
