Mrs. C. Watso
As the school counselor, it is my job to ensure students are reaching their full potential academically, socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and spiritually. I meet with students individually to discuss a range of topics- self esteem, death of a loved one, troubles at home, friendship issues- whatever the child needs. Students can be referred by themselves, by a teacher, or by a parent. Each student must have a consent form on file (attached below), which includes parent contact information. While counseling is confidential, I will do my best to keep parents informed of broad topics being discussed as well as any progress being made or if referrals to outside counseling are necessary. I can also meet students in small groups for specific topics. Additionally, I may be asked by a teacher to come into the classroom and address an entire class with a guidance lesson. Seeing the counselor is not a “bad thing”- I am a resource to help students do their best!
I am a life-long, passionate Catholic. I was born in the Chicago suburbs and have two wonderful parents and a brother and sister whom I love dearly. I grew up in northwest Houston attending public school but was very involved in my church youth group- I attended nearly every retreat, Bible Study, and gatherine possible. I ventured over to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge for undergrad, where I encountered more strong Catholics who helped form me into who I am today. That is where I met my husband, who is from Lafayette, LA but also grew up in the Cypress area. We have been married for almost 2 years. I got my Master’s degree from UH Main Campus, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker by the state of Texas. I have experience using motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and play therapy in order to help children. This will be my second year in the OLGS community, and I am so excited to do my part in helping your child(ren) become who God created them to be!
